The soul resides in its true nature

Yoga Sutra 1.3

tada drastuh svarupe avasthanam

(Then the soul resides in its true nature)

This Sutra explains that the deep inner self or soul is the very essence of the person.

Each and everyone of us has a soul deep within us that's there to guide us, but as life layers projections and expectations onto us our connection with our true self becomes more and more distant.

This Sutra says by stilling the mind, the chatter, the narrative, that is when you can truly discover your inner soul and your true alignment shines through.

When you get a moment can you sit quietly enough and remind yourself who you were when you were very young? Before all the layers and expectations came? Before you took paths that were given to you rather than being allowed to find your own way? I call this your inner child, connect back with him or her and see what they really want to do, then go out and do it!

About 5 years ago I found a book I used to read as a child, it was my mums book and all about eating healthy, drinking smoothies and doing yoga, I used to sit on my bedroom floor as a kid and tell myself when I grow up I'll live a life like that.

When I rediscovered that book my life couldn't have been further from that little girl, I ate rubbish, worked long days, never looked after myself, was ill, exhausted and lost.

I went to bed that night and cried, cried for the lost me that had gone. The inner child that I seemingly had forgotten about.

When I woke up the next day I vowed to change, I was going in search of her again.

That was the start of my journey to where I am today, I still have the book and I now live that life.

With that life I have found more blessings than I could have ever imagined.

Yes it was scary, I had to make some massive changes, I left my boyfriend at the time, left our home and lived in a caravan, I got rid of all that was expensive to afford to live, and from there I moved forwards, slowly but surely listening to what was right, listening to my soul.

My message this Sunday morning as I sit reading the sutras is, slow down, listen, step out of fear and into the light and you never know what magic can happen.
